Sua Myong Promoted to Full Professor

Warm congratulations to Dr. Sua Myong on her promotion to the rank of Full Professor this year! Since arriving in the Jenkins Department of Biophysics in 2015, Sua has continued to advance our knowledge of the structure, physical chemistry and function of G-quadruplexes using single-molecule and biochemical studies. She has pioneered a highly successful line of research on liquid-liquid phase separations and the role of RNA-binding proteins associated with neurodegeneration. Among other accolades, Sua has received an NIH Director’s New Innovator Award and Human Frontier Science Research Award. Not only has she mentored and trained a large group of graduate and undergraduate students in her lab, but for the last five years has served as our department’s Director of Undergraduate Studies earning the nickname “Biophysics Mom.” We are delighted and proud of Sua’s outstanding accomplishments in our department and science community.
